As senior Ethan Gill walked towards his, he looked around and saw the odd layout of the par three hole that lay ahead of him. He wondered if he was going to be able to make a good shot as he started 30 yards behind the green.
The Golf team held its annual Eagle Classic Golf Tournament in November at the Firewheel Golf Course to raise money for the golf team and their future trips.
“It was a lot of fun,” junior Sam Schewee said. “I got to skip school and, we raised a lot of money, so I really helped out our team.”
The Eagle Classic Golf Tournament consisted of many activities including a cooler shot, where players had to sit on top of a cooler and try to hit the ball for their tee shot.
“The cooler shot was one of the most memorable thing for me – It’s pretty hard to hit the ball on top of the cooler,” Sophomore Lexie Lea said.
The golf tournament also included a team scramble and the winners received a prize. Players were in groups of four and each person had to hit every shot. Afterward the group would take the person who had the best shot and use their shot to help the group get closer to the overall prize.
Students said that they had a good time at the tournament.
“My favorite part of the tournament was getting to serve all my friends and just having fun,” Lea said.
Gill said overall, the tournament was a fun experience.
“I would definitely recommend it,” Gill said. “It’s a good way to make money for our golf team.”
