Senior Jonathan Lester posted a tweet April 9th begging Twitter to help him win a date with Miss Teen USA, Cassidy Wolf. Wolf promised Lester she would accompany him to prom on May 23 if he got 100,000 retweets.
Lester got the idea from other people on Twitter asking celebrities to prom and decided to ask his own celebrity crush to make a deal.
“I’m so excited that she said she’d go if I get 100,000 prom retweets,” Lester said. “I’m asking everyone in the USA to retweet my prom message to help me achieve my goal.”
Lester, known as @jmoneylester on Twitter, first reached out to Wolf with a message that read – “Hey beautiful. If I get 10,000 retweets will you go to prom with me?” She replied, making the deal for 100,000 retweets.
“Most of the people in the school doubted me,” Lester said. “Even the people who retweeted me.”
Lester used Twitter to ask celebrities to help. He went on 97.9 the Beat and 106.1’s Kidd Kraddick in the Morning to advertise his mission. He was also mentioned in a D Magazine article.
“I know it is a high mark and won’t be easy without major support from the Twitter community,” Lester said. “I believe I have a great chance of getting 100,000. I just need one big person to retweet me.”
Lester plans to take a lot of pictures with Wolf if she does attend prom with him. He also plans to take her on a romantic date after prom.
“If she comes to prom, I will be the coolest kid ever at Richardson, and everyone will be in awe,” Lester said.
