Dressed in dog-eared grey pants, a decaying shredded pale brown shirt, face scarred stitches and a zombie attitude, cheer coach Jeff Bivins fit perfectly into the crowd, dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
“Seeing all the parents dancing, and seeing everyone have a good time while playing dead – that was really fun,” senior Melody Iro said.
A day after Halloween, the senior pep rally included many of the same groups along with some special guests. Students dressed in black for the holiday’s theme Eagle Invasion.
“The Eagle Guard’s sketch is pretty phenomenal, and Hayden and I are going to bring back the “I Believe” chant,” emcee Owen Nesbitt said.
The pep rally schedule began with dances by the cheerleaders, Eaglettes and Desperados. A sketch showing Richardson’s skills at killing zombies followed performances by Legacy and the Step Team. The Step Team, joined by the Hamilton Park Bobcats,created a craze in the stands.
The pep rally concluded with senior parents dancing to “I’m You’re Boogie Man” after the cheerleaders, Eaglettes and Hypematic danced to “Thriller.”
Dominating the school’s morning, the pep rally prepared the student body for the game against Berkner. Trapped in a difficult situation, the football team has to win the next two games to win a spot in playoffs.
“I feel good. I think we’ve had a good game plan, had a good week of practice, and the seniors are excited about their last opportunity to go out and perform,” head coach Brian Chandler said. “I feel good.”
