With the golden R embroidered on their hats, band students looked overwhelmed with the trophies in their hands after the Golden Eagle Band placed third in the 27th Annual Desoto Marching Classic.
“The whole band just had happiness that can’t be further described,” Junior Ryan Cuevas said.
The Band won the Most Outstanding Winds award, the Most Outstanding Marching award, the Most Outstanding General Effect award and the Most Outstanding Guard award.
“The rush you get when the announcer calls your band, not once, but six times is overwhelming,” Junior Caleb Stanley said. “We are definitley more determined this year.”
In addition to winning the Best in Class award, this performance marked the first time the Eagle Band placed in the top three at an invitational.
“The moment we heard our band being called to perform in finals was just crazy,” Cuevas said. “Especially coming from what we’ve had in the past.”
