Senior DeVante Branch was showering after football practice when he heard the shrill, ear-piercing alarm at around 9:25 Monday morning.
“I was soapy and naked when Coach started yelling at me to get outside,” Branch said. “It was not a good time to have a fire drill.”
Officer Evans said that no one pulled the smoke detector that went off outside of room D108.
“We are not sure what caused it at this point,” Evans said. “It could just be a faulty smoke detector.”
The fire department gave the area the “all-clear” before students were let back in before the end of first period.
The fire fighters were also unsure of what caused the alarm, but noted that the smoke detectors are so sensitive that a gust of wind or a bit of dirt could trigger it.
