With sets painted in themes ranging from Dr. Seuss to “The Wind in the Willows,” actors waited in various posts along the hall for their cues. At the other end of the hall, children watched each set of characters perform before reaching a jackpot of candy.
“Hallo Wonderland,” an original interactive show for small children, was written by Theatre Magnet director Cliff McClelland.
“Hallo Wonderland” follows Alice, of “Alice in Wonderland,“ on a quest to find the Jabberwocky, who has stolen candy from the audience. It features characters like the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat and Humpty Dumpty.
“It was good,” sophomore actress Libby Krammer said. “One of the other Alices got scared, but we calmed her down.”
The show took place in D hall, with different characters at different stations along the way. Alice, and a group of children, go along the hall and stop for every scene, eventually exiting to the front of the school.
As they move from one post to another, the characters teach various life lessons relating to patience, tolerance and acceptance. Up to three Alices perform at once, and actors repeat their scene throughout the night as new groups cycle through.
“Opening night was alright,” sophomore Sarah Anderson, who plays Tweedle-Dum, said. “We forgot some lines – other than that, everything was great.”
Mr. Brunner attended in the last group on Monday night with his family in a sudden influx of attendees.
“It was really fantastic,” Brunner said.
