Life of Pi” is a sweeping film that takes viewers on an emotional roller coaster. Based on the book by Yann Martel, director Ang Lee takes you through the journey of young Pi, a boy whose goal in life is to find God.
Adult Pi (Irrfan Khan) tells a young writer about his journey as a boy across the sea with only a few lifeboat supplies and a dangerously friendly tiger to keep him alive. Pi flashes back to childhood memories on the boat when all hope seemed to be lost. He recalls times when all his food had been thrown overboard, when he was sure he had become dinner for his hungry companion. But also, he remembers huge swarms of flying fish, glowing jellyfish flooding black waters at night, and an acidic, deadly lost island.
Pi’s life is constantly at stake throughout his voyage, and his outlook on faith and humanity alter as he realizes his luck in surviving weeks alone with a hungry tiger. While trying to keep his hopes high, Pi finds himself on a quest to find not only his way home, but also himself.
