The varsity football team lost 35-0 to North Mesquite to start the season in the first game that featured some normalcy since the pandemic began.
“We’re going to work harder, we are not going to let it happen again,” junior Enrique said.
The pandemic last year had a significant impact on the team causing many inconveniences.
“COVID made me go harder,” sophomore running back player, Kaden Alcorn said.
Players were routinely held out of games and practices when contact traced or found to have symptoms.
“It was tough, some of us got quarantined but we still had to play through it,” junior Brian Bui said.
With relaxed restrictions, players and fans said the old energy they used to feel at games was back.
“It was a drastic change before, but now, the game is more lively, ” senior player, Dy Robinson said.
