With a decisive 3-0 victory over Rowlett on Friday, the varsity volleyball team is off to its best start since 2011, with an overall record of 21-10.

Ranked second in the district with a 5-1 record, Coach Eric Miracle said he expects the team to continue to win if they play to their potential.

In late September, the team had one of its biggest victories when it beat Pearce 3-2 for the first time in almost a decade.

“The fact that we beat our rival school and odds were against us shows something about us as a whole program,” senior Verlyncia Nelson said.

Standout performances include sophomore Natalie Perdue, Player of the Match on Friday, who leads the team in kills, and senior Raven Presley, who is ranked #11 in the latest Dallas Morning News Area Volleyball Leaders list with 96 blocks, an average of 1.1 per set.

“The captains and the seniors have done a great job leading the team this year,” Miracle said. “They are very focused every day.”
