The Richardson tennis team competed in the District tournament Wednesday March 26th. Seniors Rachel Fleming and Justin Gooch will go to Regionals in Waco as a result of their outstanding performance.

“Our last match was against Lake Highlands,” Fleming said. “My doubles partner Justin Gooch and I won after losing to them the last time we played them.”

After winning their match against Lake Highlands 6-1, 6-4, Gooch and Fleming seized the district championship.

While the pair still doesn’t know who they will be matched up against at Regionals, they said they plan on practicing hard before the tournament.

“I think Rachel and I will have tough matches, but we can have some good points,” Gooch said. “We are in the toughest region in the state, but we will give it our all.”

As the season comes to an end at Regionals, the pair says they have enjoyed playing together in their last season.

“This season has been really good for me and Rachel because we only had one loss, and Rachel and I work really well together,” Gooch said. “We are like each other’s best friend, so playing with her is really nice.”
