With hopes for a playoff spot shattered, Richardson’s football season came to an end with losses against Berkner and Jesuit.
At the end of the first half against Berkner, the score was tied at 24, but by the end of the fourth quarter Berkner was able to squeak out a 38-41 win.
“Even though we knew by the end of the season we weren’t going to make the playoffs, we kept a positive attitude that we want to carry that over to next year,” junior wide receiver Zac Smith said.
While the defeat ended playoff hopes, the team still found positives to take from the season.
“We played a lot of good games, it just didn’t go our way,” receiver Tristan Cockrell said.
The team ended their season 27-41 road loss to Jesuit with players saying they need to improve by ending games stronger.
“We need better mental discipline in situations where we get frustrated so that we can finish games stronger and adapt to our opponents strategy,” junior quarterback Michael Curtis said.
With a long off-season looming, players said the year went by in a blur.
“What we put in to it is what we got out of it. We need more people sacrificing their time so we can improve as a team,” junior wide receiver Samuel Dillon.
