Fresh for the new year, the RHS gym was overhauled with new flooring, paint and ceiling.

“It was a group effort between Coach Chandler, Coach Hardy, Coach Miracle and me,” varsity basketball coach Justin Reese said.

A couple of changes students will notice in the large gym are new wall mats, a new floor, and freshly painted walls. Students can also find a newly painted eagle in the center of the floor.

“Hopefully people will appreciate getting to use a nice gym,” Reese said.

Players say they are ready to play in an updated gym.

“The response from the team has been great,” varsity basketball player Nylan Yancy said. “I think we’re all really grateful for it.”

Reese said he hopes the fans will be as excited as the players are.

“The new gym is great, I’m really happy to have it and the players and our fans really deserve it,” Yancy said.

With brighter walls and shinier floors, coaches and players say the new look will be obvious to spectators.

“I think it makes RHS look more appealing,” Reese said.
