Senior Brandon Scott entered the gymnasium foyer smiling to all the people waiting for his arrival. He set his backpack and sweater on the table next to the Spalding brand basketball on the table displayed for the occasion. Paris Junior College Coach Taylor shook his hand and stood next to him as he sat down. It was the beginning of his college basketball experience.

“It’s a weird that this is actually happening,” Scott said. “I’ve been playing basketball for so long now and finally I’m starting it as my career. It’s nice.”

Taylor handed him papers to sign. Scott looked over them and signed in all the necessary places.

“It’s too late to read it, man,” varsity Coach Justin Reese said. The rest of the basketball team and Scott’s family laughed. “It’s time to sign now.”

He handed the papers to Taylor and prepped for photos.

“It feels really great knowing I’m going to be playing in the next level,” Scott said. “I’m just going to work hard and everything else will take care of itself. I can’t wait until I step foot on Paris Junior College campus and get started.”
