Without thinking twice, several senior guys jumped into the ice-cold waters of senior Luke Adamson’s pool. They surfaced and laughed as people gathered around the edge to take pictures of them.
“I had a lot of fun spending time with both new and old friends at the progressive dinner,” senior Patrick Rice said. “I even got to jump into Luke’s pool with all my bros. What’s better than that?”
For the past nine years, senior class sponsor Aurora Everett has organized the Senior Progressive Dinner as a way to raise money for prom.
“The senior class officers raised about $500 from this event to go towards their prom,” Everett said. “I think it’s a nice way for the seniors to socialize with their friends and acquaintances from the school, as well as meet new people.”
Students paid $10 ahead to receive a ticket and attend their dinner. The 3-course meal consisted of traveling to a sequence of homes volunteered by senior families. Parents signed up to prepare and donate food to the homes in order to feed all of the students attending. Seniors were put into certain groups and assigned to specific homes for the first two courses of the meal, and then all met up in one location for dessert.
“I was looking forward to my three-course meal all day,” senior class officer Talia Richman said. “The food was delicious and hanging out with everyone was great, too.”
The food provided to each home ranged from bacon-wrapped hors d’oeurves, lasagna and mini cheesecakes.
“The food was good,” senior Andrew Buckmeier said. “It was like five-star dining.”
