Head Football Coach Brian Chandler called for the team to take a knee and listen up. Only moments away from entering the field, he wanted to have the team’s undivided attention when he told the team how he felt about the season.
“I want everyone to understand how proud I am of every one of you tonight,” Chandler said. “You have earned the right to have a great moment tonight, and I have no doubt in my mind that you will take advantage of that opportunity. All year long we have played our very best, and we’ve just gone out and played.”
Chandler finished his thoughts and the team huddled to say a prayer. They left the locker room and geared up before entering the stadium. They team rocked back and forth while chanting, felt the adrenaline rush through their systems one last time, and rushed the field as the announcer came over the speakers to welcome the Richardson High School Eagles.

“Coming into this game was very exciting,” senior Noah King said. “Once we arrived at the stadium, we knew that we had played Allen back in week three so it wasn’t anything new to us.”
Within the first 15 seconds of the game, Richardson scores the first touchdown. The visitors side of the stands stood up and cheered.
“Scoring at the very beginning of the game against Allen felt like the best moment of the entire season,” junior Caitlyn Springer said. “It was a good day to be an Eagle.”
The next three quarters were not so joyous as Allen took the lead by 56 points. Devante Branch scored the second touchdown in the fourth quarter.
“It felt great scoring that touchdown,” senior Devante Branch said. “It was a tough game and we all needed something to cheer about. I’m just happy that the overall season went well. The team has really become a family, it seems, and stuff like that is really important. It makes the game more enjoyable.”
The final score was 63-14.
