Sophomore president Siya Sharma looks around the room and smiles. Laughter echoes through the walls as students trade candy and make bracelets. The moment captures everything Sharma loves about the club.
“I really like the community I have formed in this club because everyone’s so genuine,” Sharma said. “It’s a party every day.”
Fashion Club was started by Sharma and Sophomore vice president Emirah Nadzaku earlier this year. It was created and promoted by Sharma and Nadzaku as a safe place for students to form bonds and express themselves creatively.
Many members said it’s a great place to meet new people, take a break from school stress and show off their different fashion styles.
Helping lead the club has given Nadzaku a unique view of what makes the club meaningful to students. She has seen how it helps students connect and feel supported by one another.
“I want it to be a safe place where they can make friends,” Nadzaku said. “I definitely love how close everyone is with each other.”
Many members of the club said the welcoming environment and relaxed structure makes it a good group to join, even for students with busy schedules.
“I think the presidents and the members are good at what they do,” sophomore Sumeya Seman said. “It’s not like a stressful club that makes you do too much.”
Fashion Club members said they especially appreciate its supportive atmosphere, where creativity is encouraged and everyone feels like they can share their different styles.
“I like the environment and all of the people in it are really nice,” sophomore Kori Clark said. “I think it’s bringing together kids with different fashion tastes.”
