Baseball Playoff Streak Broken

After advancing to the playoffs two years in row, the baseball team fell to Coppell in the last game of the season narrowly missing post season action.

After tie game through five innings, the Cowboys hit a three run home run in the top of the sixth inning which put the team just out of reach.

“I was thinking if Lake Highlands looses and we got another week, if not I just thought about all the memories I had the past couple of years and just ceaze the moment the last couple of innings.” Senior Outfielder Caden Kirk said.”

Starting with pregame warmups Eagles players said the Coppell players were talking trash. some said it motivated them to play harder while others thought it went to far.

“it doesn’t really get in my head but the amount of disrespect after trying to be classy. I’m a classy person I don’t talk mess I won’t ever, but the amount of disrespect towards me was unreasonable. Duncan said.

Although falling short of playoffs the players can’t wait to get a jump on improving for next spring.

“it makes me want to work hard in the off season and go for it all in the spring. I want to step up and be a leader next year and hope we can go far” Freshman Pitcher Jagger Schattle said.

Seniors believe that with players in key positions they got a good start for next season.

“I think the team will be good they will have a lot of good players, they will have important players in important places. I think they will be fine” Kirk Said.

with Key Starters Junior Second baseman Damon Blalock and Freshman Pitcher Jagger Schattle returning next year the team will look to make it back to playoffs.

“I think they got a shot to get back in the playoffs unfortunately we didn’t do it our senior year. I think they are gonna be pretty decent coming in with a new district and I hope they can really get something going and continue a tradition that we failed to continue ourselves this year.” Senior Catcher Grant Roberts said.
