As the Richardson girls soccer team walked off the field after their first district game of the season, they knew a shot at the playoffs was going to be tough after a 3-2 loss to Pearce.
The Lady Eagles started off strong in the first half, with a 1-0 lead. But They couldn’t hold Pearce during the second half as three goals slipped by them.
“We played really hard but fell short,” senior defender Qyara Winston said. “This loss shows us what we need to improve on to beat them next time.”
Even though they were down by two goals, the team didn’t give up hope for a comeback.
“After Pearce came back and scored three goals, the intensity of the game picked up,” senior outside midfielder Katelyn Givens said.
In an attempt to take the game back, Jordyn Lane had a one-on-one attack with the goalie and scored the Lady Eagle’s final goal.
“We fought hard the whole game,” senior inside midfielder Eden White said. “I am proud of our team.”
