Members of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) program competed at Denison HS in competitions related to teaching. Seven students moved on to the state competition which will take place in Arlington on February 17.

“When me and my partner found out we made it to state, I was honestly so shocked,” junior Nadira Hamid said. “I felt really happy that our hard work had paid off. I really enjoyed being able to put together our presentation and the actual experience of presenting in front of the judges.”

Hamid and her partner senior Faiza Zaman competed in the event called Teacher Appreciation, where they showed their appreciation to teachers around the school by distributing bottles of hand sanitizer and writing appreciation letters.

“I not only enjoyed competing at the competition at Denison, but I also enjoyed being happy to see smiles on the teacher’s faces once we handed them their gifts,” Hamid said. “Teachers deserve to be appreciated for what they do.”
