Dr. Jeannie Stone has been chosen to serve as RISD’s new superintendent. There will be a 21-day window before her position is finalized on January 9th during the new year.

“I am honored and humbled to be asked to lead Richardson ISD,” Stone said. “I sincerely love this school district, and I will continue to work together with our staff, community, and Board of Trustees to ensure that all students learn, grow, and succeed.”

Stone has been serving as interim superintendent since June after the retirement of previous superintendent Dr. Kay Waggoner. She has been with RISD since 2015, when she was named Deputy Superintendent over Curriculum and Instruction.

“Dr. Stone joined the RISD a year and a half ago as Deputy Superintendent, and has successfully assumed roles of increasing responsibility during her tenure,” Board of Trustees President Kim Caston said. “We believe we have selected exactly the right person to lead RISD and build on our momentum as we focus on our important vision of growth for ALL [sic]. Dr. Stone embodies the district’s vision and is a true servant leader.”
