For the first time in more than 30 years, junior Henos Andebrhan qualified for the state cross country meet by placing 11th place overall and 2nd place individually at the regional meet on Saturday, with a 5K time of 16:08.

Coach Elizabeth Brown said she was “incredibly proud of him” for advancing in a region with multiple past state champions.

“Henos is one of the most humble, disciplined, hardworking, and gracious elite athletes I’ve encountered,” Brown said.

Andebrhan, the cross country captain, will compete on November 11 at the state meet at Round Rock.
